What is the difference between BWR and BWP grade plywood for interior woodwork?

BWR (Boiling Water Resistant) and BWP (Boiling Water Proof) plywood indicate different levels of adhesive bonding and moisture resistance. BWR grade is formulated with synthetic resins to withstand periodic humidity and moisture, making it a frequent choice for bedroom wardrobes, living area paneling, and dry storage units. BWP grade uses adhesives designed for greater resistance to moisture and prolonged water exposure, which makes it commonly preferred for areas like kitchen cabinets, vanity carcasses, and utility storage. However, a BWP designation alone does not guarantee performance in every wet condition, nor is every BWP board a true marine-grade panel. Designers should always inspect manufacturer technical sheets, edge-banding quality, and manufacturer warranties for the intended application.
